Suitable Surfaces

What Will Vinyl Stick To?

Our vinyls will stick to most surfaces as long as they are smooth, flat or lightly curved. It is essential for the surface to be clean, or the vinyl will peel away over a short period of time. Below is a general list of surface types and their compatibility for vinyl application.

Surface Types

Plastic – Vinyl will stick to a plastic surface, as long as it is smooth. If it has a textured surface, the vinyl will either not stick at all, or will peel away over a short period of time.

Glass – Vinyl will stick beautifully to glass surfaces. It is important however, not to use s glass cleaning product as it may prevent the glue from adhering properly.

Metal – Vinyl will stick to metal, as long as the surface is smooth, flat and has no texture.

Wood – Vinyl will stick to most wooden surfaces. However, some types of wood have a textured surface which is not recommended for vinyl application.

Cloth – Our vinyls are not suitable for use on any type of cloth or fabric.

Painted Walls – The paint should be allowed to dry for three weeks before application and the surface should be smooth for better adhesion. Vinyl will not adhere to surfaces painted with Teflon, Stain Guard or VOC free paints.
